History Canberra Chinese School (CCS) is the youngest and fast growing non-profit Chinese community school in Canberra. We have over 170 students with our three campuses in Bruce, Woden and Gungahlin in 2016. Our mission is to promote the learning of Chinese language and culture through the provision of quality teaching and learning to the school aged children. The school focuses on teaching Ma Liping textbooks, which are highly recognised by Chinese language teaching experts around the world as the most effective model in teaching heritage children to speak and read Chinese. The school is suitable for children aged 4 and above with basic oral communication skills in Mandarin.  Students should be able to learn around 800 to 1,000 Chinese characters after four years’ learning with our highly qualified and experienced Chinese teachers (variations may exist depending on students’ level).

In addition to Chinese classes, the school runs children and adult drawing classes, Chinese calligraphy and brush painting, after school Chinese classes and free Chinese folk dance class. The school also runs Gongfu Panda Chinese martial art class from 2017.
