MLTA ACT Mini Conference – 17 August 2019

The MLTA ACT Executive Committee would like to invite you to attend the annual MLTA Mini Conference which will take place Saturday 17 August 2019.

In the UN International Year of Indigenous Languages the theme of this year’s Mini Conference is ‘Embedding Indigenous Perspectives and Making Connections’.

Please see the flyer for further information on the sessions and feel free to share the flyer with any colleagues who may be interested in attending. This Mini Conference will be of interest not only to language teachers but all interested in indigenous perspectives.

Intext Book Co. & Language International Bookshop will have a display at the Mini Conference.

Timing: 8:30am arrival and registration for a 9:00am start and 2:00pm finish

Location: Hedley Beare Centre for Teaching and Learning – Fremantle Drive, Stirling, ACT

Cost: Free for MLTA ACT Inc. members and MLTA members of other states and territories           $50 Non-MLTA members

ACT Community Language Schools Day 2019

ACT CLS Open Day 2019ACT Community Language Schools Day is a free Children’s Week event.

Date: Saturday 18 May 2019
Venue: Exhibition Park in Canberra – Mallee Pavilion & Drovers Square
Time: 10.00am – 2.00pm

The aim of the event is to give the association’s member schools and playgroups an opportunity to share their experiences and achievements with each other and the wider community.

All children at the event will be able to be involved in the lantern parade and piñata.

On the Day, community language schools will showcase their schools and communities in any of the following ways:

– have a display stall where they can display many items including the books they use at the school to teach the language, students’ completed work and items that depict their culture (photos, drawings, craft items etc.)

– perform one or two cultural items (singing and/or dancing)

– have a food stall to sell their traditional food items (items will be available for sale to the public to support the schools fundraising).
